The wire brakes or thread brakes listed here generate a wire tension by enclosing the wire guided through a ceramic or hard metal eyelet with a felt or ceramic contact pressure. Behind the felt discs there are pressure discs made of PTFE (Teflon) which serve as an emergency stop after wear of the felt discs.
By adjusting the pressure spring, different strong pulls can be realized as shown in the table below.
These brakes are intended for wire materials where constant surface contact is not a problem.
